You Are What You Eat

Along with exercising and reducing stress, what we eat is one of the most important factors for good health. The World Health Organisation estimates that 2.7 million lives could be saved each year if fruit and vegetable consumption was sufficiently increased! We should all be eating our 5-10 servings of fruits and vegetables per day and fast food outlets should be going bankrupt. So why is it that coffee shops still sell thousands of sugar-laden mocaccinos or that greasy donuts are still so popular?

The problem is that for many of us, identifying with proper nutrition can be difficult. How often do we make food choices not because we are hungry but because we are bored, tired, or stressed, or because it’s time for lunch or simply because a donut just looks so good! The fact that we no longer consider food as our nourishment and that we are bombarded by the newest – and not the healthiest - food products on the market makes it difficult for us to choose an apple over a chocolate bar on a regular basis.

Most nutrient-dense foods are those grown by nature, for the good reason that our bodies have evolved and adapted to their environment for the last 15 billion years. Considering that the last 50 years brought on the manufacture of a growing number of artificial food products that have very little to do with a carrot or a pear, is it any wonder that the incidence of many chronic degenerative diseases like diabetes, cancer or hypertension is on the rise?

At An Apple a Day, we know that it is very difficult to truly change one’s eating habits in a lasting manner. Some of the challenges faced by those who have tried are:

  • No time to cook
  • Lack of motivation and time to explore different stores to buy healthier ingredients (such as gluten-free pasta or organic vegetables)
  • Discouragement to learn new recipes in order to cook delicious and yet healthy meals
  • Difficulty to resist the temptation of buying junk food or prepared food

So how can we eat healthy and therefore stay healthy, while living in our current reality? How do we activate our most beneficial genes without growing our own vegetables and without spending the whole day cooking? With An Apple a Day, facing this challenge becomes easy with our range of services:

Each of our services is designed to make your day-to-day life easier, while maintaining or improving your health.
